This week in DGST 395, we focused on connections. Through the pre-work for class, classwork, and homework, I was able to acquire a better understanding of how connections apply to this course, and learn more about the metaverse in general.
Before class on Wednesday, I:
- Read Cory Doctorow’s essay, “Science Fiction is a Luddite Literature” (Links to an external site.)
- Read the excerpt from Snow Crash
After class, I explored the concepts we discussed further on OOcities.org, where I was able to explore different sites, and I brought this knowledge with me on Friday. I also listened to the podcast about Geocities.
On Friday, we applied the concept of GeoCities to the Metaverse, and I made a meme showing how the metaverse may extinguish face-to-face connections.
